It’s a very exclusive club with an excellent course, but you must be seconded to become a member. You can just use the course on an ad hoc basis, but it is not cheap. It has a lovely colonial club house serving the most divine cheese on toast.

This is about 45 minutes away from Colombo, towards Piliyandala. They have excellent teachers, we particularly love Tek; they have international teachers visiting often too, which always keeps it fresh. They offer horse riding packages, which are reasonably priced once you look at what they offer. They also have Pony Club on the weekends. Ineke, the founder, is so passionate to share her love of horses and has created a gorgeous environment for both adults and children.

This one’s a bit out of Colombo and is located in Bandaragama. It does brilliantly for a day trip for the whole family. They have a huge 1216m racing track and a 171m kids’ track. Both tracks are designed to international specifications. They’ve also got other things like a pool to cool down after your laps and a rifle shooting range. There’s a decent restaurant with a kid-friendly menu too. This place is super clean, very professional and about an hour away from Colombo. It’s also excellent for team building and corporate events.
