FOR THE LOVE OF FOOD WITH T&T’S NEW FOOD WRITER

T&T are delighted to welcome a new team member on board- Edwina Thomson, since meeting her we have been inspired by the passion and ease she brings to her cooking. We cannot wait to share her recipes and family food hacks with you… life in the kitchen has just got a lot more exciting.

Edwina Thomson, known as Ed, has been living in Colombo for nearly three years with her family.  This is her first posting overseas from Melbourne, Australia.  As a trained interior designer, Ed took a side step for nearly 20 years running a Catering and Event Management company called  Ed Dixon Food Design. In January of this year she sold the catering business (brilliant timing) to free up more time to spend in Colombo pursuing her loves:  painting, food,travel and design.

Ed has over 30 years’ experience in hospitality, predominantly working in the kitchen.  She is a creative recipe developer, practical recipe writer and is also a food stylist.

When Ed first arrived in Colombo, she was daunted by trying to find ingredients to prepare family meals. This sparked a change in the way she cooked for her family and she now has a file of great recipes to share with the T&T audience.

Ed’s aim at T&T, is to write family friendly recipes which use the best local ingredients that don’t send you searching high and low for one critical element.  She will also profile special occasion recipes and shared meals for easy entertaining at home.  There will also be informative information about Sri Lanka’s produce profiling staples such as greens, fish, meat and flours.  Ed will focus on healthy foods, especially some fresh salads, low carb recipes, lunch box fillers as well as gluten free and vegan options.

We are thrilled to have you on board Ed, and know for our followers you can use these food experiences to enhance your time in Sri Lanka.
