Celine is one of our new guest writers for T&T, she has a fantastic Instragram account called Keep It Real Mama.sl . She will be writing on a monthly basis to help you keep your kids entertained over the summer period and introducing great kid friendly meal ideas; because lets face it who doesn’t love a new way of encouraging our children to eat more healthy. This month she has given us 5 upcycle craft ideas to get creative with our kids. I’m not sure there really is an age limit, even I’m excited to make these things!
I’m Celine, mama to a cheeky three year old boy and a feisty one year old girl! During the lockdown period our kids sense of normalcy was completely turned upside down. The usual social interaction of school, activities and play dates had now become staring directly at Mummy and Daddy’s faces 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We ended up doing tons of arts and crafts, messy and sensory play, trying out new recipes and even doing some fruit art. With every new activity it gave me an insight into their little minds – I found that they were expanding their imagination and expressing creativity in a way they never would if things were “normal.”
One activity we love to do is upcycled crafts, which in essence is reusing and remaking something deemed as “rubbish” to make something better. So next time you are about to throw something out, think what can you make out of it?
Here are a few fun ones:
